'Seconds' anyone?
The lowdown // The viola may be the Rodney Dangerfield of instruments - there are zillions of viola jokes floating around, showing no respect whatsoever - but it's really a beautiful and soulful music-making object, especially in the hands of a sensitive musician such as Peter Minkler. Minkler, acting assistant principal violist for the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, will play works by Bach, Stravinsky and others featured on his recently released CD, Viola Seul: Works for unaccompanied viola (Centaur Records).
