Hitchcock's lost 'Lady'
The Lady Vanishes, with Margaret Lockwood as a young woman puzzled about why only she realizes an elderly acquaintance has disappeared, is this weekend's offering in the Charles Theatre's Alfred Hitchcock retrospective. The 1938 film, also starring Michael Redgrave, Paul Lukas and Dame May Whitty, was the penultimate work of Hitchcock's early British period; the next year, after the release of Jamaica Inn, he would relocate to the United States. Showtime is noon tomorrow at the Charles, 1711 N. Charles St., with encores set for 7 p.m. Monday and 9 p.m. Thursday. Tickets are $6 tomorrow, $8 other times.
