What New York is doing to help subprime borrowers

California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger reached an agreement last week with four major lenders in his state to help homeowners in trouble. The mortgage companies agreed to extend for a period of time the low teaser rates on the adjustable-rate mortgages for subprime borrowers who are current on their payments but cannot afford the reset.
